St. Thomas Like This

Look there
Along the edge of the bay
Where the pleasure boats stay
In front of the marketplace during the day
While the quiet waters lurk in wait
To come in only to go out
All in rhythm… like my love for you
That flows to you
Like evening clouds that cover the missing sun.

See there
Along the edge of the bay
Where much to my dismay
The mountains and hilltops all stand and pray
For St. Thomas the Virgin Islands… may it always be
Like this.

Look there
Along the edge of the bay
Where the pleasure boats stay
Above the ruins of a lost historic story
Where memories of claim and glory
Spoils the lives of the original people here
Who have come and gone
All in rhythm… like my love for you
That flows to you
Like evening clouds that cover the missing sun.

See there
Along the edge of the bay
Where much to my dismay
The mountains and hilltops all stand and pray
For St. Thomas the Virgin Islands… may it always be
Like this.
